Tiffany Murray

From Horslips to Bowie

Venue: Church of Ireland – The Jane Barrett Stage

My Family and Other Rock Stars is a wonderful and warm memoir about Welsh novelist Tiffany Murray’s extraordinary childhood growing up at the legendary Rockfield Studios in the 70s, rubbing shoulders with rock and roll legends from Queen to Echo and the Bunnymen. Tiffany’s mother was the resident Cordon Bleu chef for Rockfield and so Tiffany spent her childhood there. While her mother was convincing Black Sabbath to eat fish and getting Lemmy from Motorhead to eat anything (he’d only drink Jack Daniels), Tiffany’s eventual stepfather, Fritz Fryer, produced Horslips, The Bothy Band, and worked with Clannad. Rockfield was Tiffany’s playground, where she roamed free and snuck into recording studios where legends like Horslips, David Bowie and Queen were recording some of their biggest hits. (Rockfield is where they famously came up with 'Bohemian Rhapsody'). She will be in conversation with Myles Dungan and waxing lyrical about anything to do with Horslips.
